Why Genius Hour Academy?

During the two days, attendees will get to join in on a variety of Genius Hour learning, planning, and collaborating opportunities, including:  

  • In-person work sessions with both A.J. Juliani, Andi McNair, and other Genius Hour educators
  • Taking part in new inquiry-based activities and challenges Creating personalized activities, challenges, lessons, and units for Genius Hour (in your role as teacher, instructional coach, school leader, administrator)
  • Diving into the research around Genius Hour and the practical applications for all areas of education
  • Collaborative round tables breaking down the biggest problems you are facing and coming up with creative solutions
  • A private online community to extend the learning beyond these two-days and connect with this cohort for a long time to come

Day 1: Genius Hour and Owning the Process

9:00am - 9:30am 

Welcome & Breakfast *Fruit, bagels, and yogurt parfaits will be provided along with coffee, juice and water. 


9:30am - 12:30pm  

Opening Presentation and new inquiry-based activities and challenges (group and invididual) 


12:30pm - 1:30pm  

Lunch and Learn with UPenn PLN *A mixed menu of mediterranean favorites will be provided along with beverages. 


1:30pm - 3:30pm  

Mini-Edcamp Style Sessions

Led By Speaker and Academy Participants on Variety of Topics


4:30pm - 6:00pm  

Networking Happy Hour

White Dog Cafe - Appetizers and Drinks Provided for the Group- Informal Conversations and Networking

Day 2: Scaling Genius Hour

9:00am - 9:30am

1:00pm - 2:30pm  

Scaling Genius Hour Collaborative round tables breaking down the biggest problems you are facing and coming up with creative solutions
